Users love the Glance experience but often want more control over their lock-screen visuals. Existing types allow dynamic wallpapers, personal wallpapers, or alternating between the two. However, there was no simple way to switch instantly.

Type 4 introduces a flexible toggle, giving users the freedom to choose between their personal wallpaper and Glance’s dynamic experience without friction.

Problem

Problem

Problem

Through user feedback, we discovered:

  • Some users enjoy Glance’s dynamic wallpapers but don’t always want them active.

  • Others want personal photos on their lock screen while still receiving Glance notifications.

  • Existing modes were limited and rigid—users couldn’t control the experience in the moment.

This gap presented an opportunity to design a simple, intuitive switch that could balance personalization with brand engagement.

The goal was to empower users with choice while maintaining engagement.

  • Keep personal wallpapers intact without losing Glance content.

  • Allow an effortless toggle between modes.

  • Track adoption and satisfaction via toggle usage, time in each mode, and retention.

This gap presented an opportunity to design a simple, intuitive switch that could balance personalization with brand engagement.
